Course Registration Policies

Course Registration Policies

The following policies have been set by the FLLD Undergraduate Program. For policies set by the Studies Office, please see the relevant publications issued by that office.

1. Comp/Oral sectioning. Starting from Fall 2022, students register for the English Composition and Oral Training courses via the online registration system. Students must select Composition and Oral Training courses taught by the same teacher.
2. Comp/Oral in sequence. Students must take the Comp/Oral classes in sequence (Comp/Oral I, then Comp/Oral II, then Comp/Oral III).
3. When taking Comp/Oral courses, a student must attend both the Composition and Oral courses.
Students who fail Comp/Oral must re-take that course, including double-major students. The repeaters should contact the TA for course registration.
4. Students should take two seminars (4 credits together) to graduate. One two-credit seminar is counted as required credit whereas the other two-credit seminar is counted toward the elective credits in the department.
5. Elective courses. FLLD Undergraduates must take 22 credits of the total number of elective credits in the department. The other elective credits needed for graduation may be filled by any elective courses offered by the University, except for courses offered by the English Language Center.

Exceptions. Exceptions to any of the above rules may be granted only by the Department Chair and are possible only in extremely uncommon cases.
